The next extra-curricular event is the Chili Supper on October 15. This event is sponsored by the workers at Ruth’s Pantry–they are always looking for ways to raise money to purchase food supplies for the patrons who come back week after week for food to feed their families. The supper is from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., and the cost is a free-will offering. Chili, cornbread, desserts–what a delicious and fun way to spend an evening. We hope to see you there!

The quilts and kits have been shipped! The folks at Grace Lutheran of Winchester did a great job this year. Here are the totals: 98 Personal Care kits, 122 School Kits, and 166 Quilts. Those numbers beat anything we have done before. GREAT JOB, members of Grace Lutheran!!

The work at Grace Lutheran of Winchester goes on.

Adults and children from around the world thank YOU! They thank you for the school supplies. They thank you for towels and soap and toothbrushes. They thank you for the warm quilts made by many hands at Grace Lutheran of Winchester. The members of our church ROCK!!!

You have provided fabric as well as used sheets and blankets for the quilts. You have provided notebooks and pens and pencils and crayons for the school kits. You have provided soap and toothbrushes and bath towels for the personal care kits. And finally, you showed up in record numbers and worked hard to pack all of these items into boxes to be shipped. Many thanks to all of you for your diligence and generosity.

You have touched many lives. Perhaps sometime this year we will be able to get an accounting of where all of these World Relief supplies have gone. THANK YOU—each and every one of you!

At Grace, our worship services are inspirational and our church family warm and friendly. Everyone is welcome. Some special events are planned. On August 16, the workers at Ruth’s Pantry are sponsoring a homemade pie and ice cream social following the outdoor service to thank the members of Grace for their faithful contributions to the Pantry throughout the year.

Sewing Circle: We are completing many quilts. For the summer, we are meeting only on the fourth Wednesday month to assemble and tie Lutheran World Relief quilts. If you would like to help, please check us out on one of our sewing days in our sewing room located at the southwest corner of the lower level of Grace. No experience or special abilities are needed!!! In addition, the sewing circle is always in need of new or used sheets or light-weight blankets to use in quilt assembly.

Lutheran World Relief: Members have been bringing items for Personal Care Kits as well as sheets to be used in the construction of the quilts and school supplies. See the August newsletter for more information about what is still needed for the kits.

As noted above, packing will take place on September 13–God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday. In 2025, we sent 192 quilts, 61school kits, and 101 personal care kits. While we especially concentrate on school kits at the end of summer when school supplies are plentiful, supplies for kits can be brought to the church any time during the year. Listed below are the supplies needed for school kits and personal care kits. Also needed are miscellaneous boxes measuring approximately 16 by 16 inches to contain the quilts and kits for shipping.

Each School Kit must have:

4 spiral-bound 70-page notebooks Each Personal Care Kit must have:

27″ by 52″ (approximately) dark towel (preferably not very heavy)

The next extra-curricular event is the Chili Supper on October 15.
